Use the Icarus directory to choose an open regional listing. Check its mode, map and access requirements with your crew before joining. A Coming soon listing has no playable session yet.
Join the dedicated session
- Update the game, launch it and select the character you intend to use with the group.
- Choose Join Session from the HAB menu, then switch the browser to dedicated servers.
- Select the server whose exact name matches the listing. Follow its access instructions if a password is required.
- If you arrive in a server lobby without a running prospect, ask the organiser which prospect to load. Do not start or replace a shared world simply to get past that screen.
This follows RocketWerkz’s dedicated-server joining guide. Menu placement can change with updates; the important distinction is the dedicated-server list and the intended shared prospect.
Choose the experience together
Open World is the persistent survival option and can include narrative Operations. Missions offer a timed, self-contained expedition. Outposts are designed for creative building with safer conditions. RocketWerkz describes the modes and progression systems. The listing should tell you which experience the crew is running.
Set a small objective before you drop
- Make survival supplies and shelter the first shared job. Check your suit’s oxygen, food and water indicators before a longer trip.
- Watch the weather and plan somewhere to regroup. Carrying a full inventory into deteriorating conditions is a poor time to discover that everyone has wandered apart.
- Coordinate early crafting unlocks and gathering jobs. Ask what the camp is missing before making another copy of something it already has.
- Separate personal equipment from shared materials. Keep a simple note of the current objective so the next person joining knows how to help.
For your first session, aim to establish a dependable camp, complete one nearby objective and return together. You can increase the distance and difficulty once the basics feel routine. Use Find a Crew to recruit for the same mode and play window rather than inviting people into an unspecified Icarus session.
Make the next session easy to resume
Before leaving, tell the group which prospect you used, what you completed and where the shared supplies are. If the next session has a different organiser, check that they mean the same save and mode. “We are playing Icarus” is less useful than “we are continuing this Open World and finishing the nearby objective.” If you see an unexpected empty lobby or a fresh prospect, ask before proceeding. Taking a minute to confirm the world prevents a long evening of progress in the wrong place.
